What is your lead-time?
After receipt of a purchase order and all necessary approvals, typical production lead times are 10-12 business days. Orders requiring more complex processes, custom materials or very large volumes may require longer lead times to be negotiated at the time of order. In some instances, orders can be expedited for an additional fee.
Do you have any stock sizes?
Royal Paper Box is a manufacturer of custom folding carton packaging. We do not stock catalog items, everything is made to order, per your specifications. We can assist in the designing the right product to fit your needs.
What is your minimum order quantity (MOQ)?
We have no minimum purchase quantity. However, because all orders are custom manufactured you will see a decrease in unit cost as purchase quantities increase. We can provide quotes to help you understand the cost of your product at various purchase quantities.
How much will my packaging cost?
The cost of packaging is based on a number of factors, including:
package complexity, size, material caliper, material grade, order quantity, printing and additional treatments.
How can you help me meet our sustainability goals?
Whether you are switching from plastic to virgin or recycled paper, we have options to suit all of your needs. We source and stock eco-friendly materials, making it a standard option for your packaging.
What type of recycling program do you have?
Infrastructure has long been in place to collect all scrap paper, which is carefully sorted to be returned to the circular economy of paper.
Structural Design & Prototyping
How long does it take to make a sample?
We will typically provide prototypes in a week or less. The actual timeframe will be based on complexity and the total number of designs requested. We will communicate lead times at the time the project begins. We can also create 3D mockups for faster turnaround.
Can you make a design sample from my artwork?
We can start a carton design using your artwork but may need to make some adjustments to ensure optimum functionality. We will communicate any necessary changes at the time of prototyping.
I don't see the folding carton style I envisioned. Do you have other designs we can use?
Absolutely, our design team has a library with hundreds of validated structural designs and the imagination and skill to adapt to your packaging needs.
What type of paperboard stock do you use for structural design samples?
We have a variety of stock paperboard that can be used for the initial prototype. Final approval samples are made with the same paperboard you request for your order.
Do you need my product to create the initial prototype?
A streamlined design process starts with understanding the product and customer requirements. Submitting the physical or digital (SolidWorks file) product for size and fit, is highly encouraged. Any prior manufactured samples or specifications should also be supplied.
Do you charge for CAD samples?
No, we do not charge for the design prototypes. If you require additional samples, please inquire with your Sales Representative.
Pre-Press
How do I send you artwork?
In our customer portal you can find a link to submit your files.
Do you offer graphic design services?
No, we do not offer graphic design services; however, we can make minor alterations to optimize printing.
What file formats do you accept?
Please refer to artwork guidelines through the customer portal.
Can I make changes to the die line provided by Royal Paper Box?
No. To ensure that all printing and die-cutting functions are accurate in production, please request any alterations that need to be made to the die line through your Inside Sales Representative.
Can I flatten the die line layer with my artwork layer?
Please do not flatten the die line and artwork layers.
Will I receive a proof before printing?
Yes, in fact, our ISO procedures require proof approval before we go to print for every new item or copy change.
Will the final carton color match the proof I receive from pre-press?
The proof you receive from our pre-press team may not accurately represent spot, custom match, or Pantone colors. It will closely match CMYK printing. Please note that colors on a computer screen can look different from printed colors on paper. The proof validates, copy, placement, no coat areas, and embellishments.

Can I tour your facility?

Is your facility secure?
Yes, we use biometric scanning for entry and exit. All entry and exit points are video recorded. Visitors are badged and escorted while in the facility. We continually review and update our plant security measures to ensure that Royal Paper Box meets the security needs of our customer base.
Can we add security features to our packaging?
Absolutely. Royal Paper Box has taken giant strides in product security and anti-counterfeiting measures to help secure your brand. We offer the latest security features, such as source tagging technology, color shifting inks, microprinting, coin reactive ink printing, and other overt and covert security features.
What are your manufacturing capabilities?
Royal Paper Box specializes in folding carton packaging. This can entail numerous embellishments such as printing, embossing, hot stamping, windowing and more. Since 1940 expertise in this space gives us a unique consistency that is uncommon amongst companies with diverse product offerings. Shipping
Where do you ship?
We ship all over the world, either with your provider or contracted through us. We also offer free delivery from San Diego to North Los Angeles.
How do you package our products?
Cartons are folded flat and packed in custom sized corrugated boxes to protect your product during shipping and storage.
Can I use my own Freight Carrier?
Yes, you can use your preferred carrier to arrange shipments domestically and internationally. We highly recommend choosing a service that does not double stack pallets to avoid potential damage in transit.
Can you create an ASN?
Royal is proud to offer Advanced Shipping Notifications (ASNs) to our customers. We currently work with large multi-national that require this streamlined process for all freight shipments.
